Rey took her first steps into a larger world in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and will continue her epic journey with Finn, Poe, and Luke Skywalker in the next chapter of the continuing Star Wars saga. “The Last Jedi” is written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski. (synopsis via Coming Soon)

It’s tempting to think these days, given the surfeit of trailers, teaser trailers, on-set photos and the like, that we walk into pretty much every movie we go to see, well and truly informed about what’s instore.

That’s true of most films, but Star Wars, now owned by Disney, continues to cultivate a mystique reserved for kinder, more simpler times such as 1977, when the first film in the now legendary franchise, A New Hope, premiered.

Occasionally though the wizards of Lucasfilm pull back their big Emerald City-sized curtain and we get to see a little of what awaits when next we join Luke (Mark Hamill), Leia (the much-missed Carrie Fisher) and new heroine of the moment, Rey (Daisy Ridley).

The behind-the-scenes video gives a charming, if a tad overstaged, peek, and peek being the operative word, into the treasures that await including a look at some nifty aliens, new worlds, enticing new characters, and some cast fun when the cameras aren’t rolling.

It’s a lot of fun as featurettes go, and while it doesn’t really do much to pull that aforementioned curtain back, it does go some way to shedding some more light on this eagerly-awaited film, as do the gorgeous posters all through this post, and of course, gets us ever more excited than we already are for the end of the year!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in Australia and UK on 14 December, and in USA on 15 December.
