So many streaming shows, so little time.

When you survey the bewildering multiplicity of options for your viewing time out there, it can begin to feel like there is far too much of a good thing; but just as you’re about to throw in the towel, you realise how good the shows on offer are and you vow not to sleep or eat if it means you can find the time to watch them.

OK, that’s not quite what happens but the bingeing pain is real and not getting any easier with shows as good as this to whet your appetite, a mix of comedy, drama and documentary that will keep you busy for some time …

OUTER RANGE

Outer Range centers on Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin), a rancher fighting for his land and family, who discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of Wyoming’s wilderness. A thrilling fable with hints of wry humor and supernatural mystery, Outer Range examines how we grapple with the unknown. At the onset of the series, the Abbotts are coping with the disappearance of daughter-in-law Rebecca. They are pushed further to the brink when the Tillersons (the gaudy owners of the neighboring profit-driven ranch) make a play for their land. An untimely death in the community sets off a chain of tension-filled events, and seemingly small-town, soil-bound troubles come to a head with the arrival of a mysterious black void in the Abbotts’ west pasture. Wild revelations unfold as Royal fights to protect his family; through his eyes, we begin to see how time contains secrets held in the past and unsettling mysteries foreshadowed. Outer Range premieres on Prime Video on 15 April.

Exciting news! We are not yet done with Picard season 2 but we already know that season 3, the show’s final season, is going to be very special indeed, with the crew of The Next Generation reuniting for what is sure to be a brilliant season of TV.

To be honest, I am not looking forward to saying goodbye to Grace and Frankie when the back half of the seventh and final season, comprising 12 episodes, drops on 29 April. Now Netflix’s longest-running original series, with 94 episodes in total, Grace and Frankie is one of those sitcoms that you come to love deeply, primarily because its characters, richly-realised, and funny & poignant in equal measure have come to mean so much to you. While there is extremely idle interview chatter about a Christmas episode, the reality is that this is likely it for the series and we will have say our sad goodbyes. No bingeing these episodes, with my preference being to eke them out for as long as I can. The series might be hilarious but parting will still be sweet sorrow.
