Cats are TV addicts too

Meow!

I love cats. LOVE THEM.

And it appears so do the good and creative folk who have produced many of our most loved TV shows down through the years.

Cats have either fronted their own shows such as Top Cat or Snagglepuss from Hanna-Barbera.

Or been the sidekick to, or one of the main characters –  think Salem in Sabrina the Teenage Witch or The Cat in Red Dwarf.

Or have simply been a cute part of the cast such as Salty in Caroline in the City, Data’s cat Spot in Star Trek: The Next Generation or Lucky the hapless cat belonging to the Tanners in ALF, who had to devote much of his time to not getting eaten by everyone’s stranded furry alien.

And let’s not forget the way cats have been immortalised in song in Friends where “Smelly Cat” was as much of the show as anyone, and Soft Kitty in Big Bang Theory, Sheldon’s favourite childhood song, and one just about everyone has had to sing to him at some stage.

Yes cats are TV addicts too my friends and many of our shows would be poorer without them.

Now will someone pass me the milk please?
