Looking for a much-needed break from stormtroopers and TIE fighters, Finn arranges a surprise vacation for his friends Rey, Poe, Rose, Chewie, BB-8, R2-D2, and C-3PO, aboard the ultra-luxurious Galactic Starcruiser, the Halcyon. But Finn’s plan to have one last hurrah together quickly goes awry when he’s separated from the group. While searching for his friends, he encounters three Force ghosts: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Leia Organa, who each share their own unexpected stories of vacations gone wrong, helping him to understand that holidays are about more than just having fun.

If you’re in the southern hemisphere of our beleaguered planet, it will be all too apparent to you than it is in fact not summer.

Happily though it is summer up north and so that can mean only one thing – the arrival of the LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation with all the silliness, whimsicality and fun-filled animation that applies.

Set not that long after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker which closes out the massive, decades-long Skywalker Saga of films, the animated special is a chance for the franchise, which is understandably serious a great deal of the time – titanic battles between galactic fascism and the resistance are no laughing matter, of course – to let down its long Wookie hair.

It’s time for fun, drinks, beach limbo (now with added lightsabers) and snacks! And snack puns which will induce a groan but oh the joy that comes with it too!

It’s looks like a hoot and a chance for those of us decidedly not at the beach to get all chilled and take a break from destiny-shaping doom and gloom.

Party on Finn! Party on everyone!

LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation premieres on Disney Plus on % August.
