Six Seasons … and a reunion? Not quite the hoped-for movie but pretty cool even so

If you are a fan of Dan Harmon’s brilliantly quirky sitcom Community, you will be well acquainted with the idea of Six Seasons and a Movie, the rallying cry from fans everywhere who dream of the perfect send off for one of the best and most original comedy shows of the modern era.

While we wait for #SixSeasonsAndAMovie to go from hopeful, fun hashtag to actual reality – if you think that’s ridiculously blue sky dreaming of fans, consider that so was a sixth season of the sitcom, cancelled in 2014 by NBC, until Yahoo! Screen picked it up for a 2015 13-episode run – we do have something almost equally as wonderful, courtesy of Vulture:

Until #SixSeasonsAndAMovie comes true, we might have to be satisfied with #SixSeasonsAndAVultureFestivalReunion, because unlike the former, which demands a Herculean amount of schedule balancing, the latter happened! Earlier this month at the Hollywood Roosevelt, as part of the Vulture Festival presented by AT&T, Dan Harmon, Joel McHale, Jim Rash, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Ken Jeong, and Chris McKenna got together for the first time publicly since Community wrapped its final season. A great time was had by all, as the panelists walked the sold-out crowd through their favorite moments and episodes from the series.” (synopsis (c) Vulture)

The warmth between the cast is a joy, testament to the fact that here is a close-knit cast who got to make some very funny TV, who are still ready to do it all again should crowded schedules permit.

Let’s hope it happens because once COVID-19 has run it’s awful course, the first thing I’ll be wanting is a very funny movie in a newly reopened cinema.

Please make it happen, pop culture powers-that-be!
