Love sweet adorable love.

Well the idea of love sweet adorable love anyway.

That’s the adorable premise behind this beautifully-realised short film from Michael Trikosko and Andrew Wilson which tells the story of an adorably shy young male lizard at a high school dance who desperately wants to dance with the braces-wearing young female lizard at the other end of the refreshments table.

Alas, every time he is near her or approaches her, he blends with the background; a great strategy if you want to avoid high school bullies but wooing a fellow wallflower? Not so good.

Invisible, which without a single word of dialogue or exposition creates a world rich with exquisite details such as butterfly bowties and firefly camera flashes, is all about a longing for connection and how that is often stymied by our own inability to get beyond a fear of rejection or just plain old shyness.

Will love win out despite the paralysing, connection-delaying fear of failure and disappointment?

You’ll have to watch to find out but suffice to say, Invisible is about something we can all relate to and that in itself, along with of course the gorgeous animation, makes this delightful short film worth the viewing.
