Time is a curious thing.

A friend and an enemy, a giver and a taker, a promise of good things to come, and a melancholic reminder of that which has passed us by.

In Alice Through the Looking Glass, the second live action film to spring forth from Lewis Carroll’s much loved classic books, time is most certainly an enemy to be reckoned with, one with which Alice must contend if she is to have any hope of saving the Mad Hatter.

Beyond that, little is known of the plot of the sequel to 2010’s Tim Burton-directed Alice in Wonderland, which gave us a wondrously, gloriously over the top take on Carroll’s madly enchanted world where up is down, small is large and having your head lopped is a very real possibility.

But with Tim Burton still present in a production capacity, we can be sure that the same lustrously colourful landscape and manic energy will return for the new film, which just dropped a 10 second, blink-and-you’ll miss-it teaser trailer.

Quite simply we see Alice stepping through a door up in the sky and then tumbling and tumbling and tumbling out to who knows what adventure.

Hopefully a trailer will soon be forthcoming and we’ll have a more detailed idea of what weird and wonderful adventures will await Alice this time around.

Alice Through the Looking Glass opens May 27, 2016 in USA and July 14 in Australia.
