Everyone’s favorite spooky family is back in the animated comedy sequel, The Addams Family 2. In this all-new movie we find Morticia and Gomez distraught that their children are growing up, skipping family dinners, and totally consumed with “scream time.” To reclaim their bond they decide to cram Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester and the crew into their haunted camper and hit the road for one last miserable family vacation. Their adventure across America takes them out of their element and into hilarious run-ins with their iconic cousin, It, as well as many new kooky characters. What could possibly go wrong? “They’re creepy and they’re kooky / Mysterious and spooky / They’re all together ooky …” and I love them!

The Addams Family that is, who are back for another animated adventure after the success of 2019’s outing, of which I had this to say:

“As animated features go, The Addams Family is bright, silly, goofy and downright hilarious at times, just as you’d expect it to be, but it is also empathetically thoughtful and socially aware, a movie as apt to amuse as it is to put forward some sage social commentary, imbuing it with strength and substance to go along with the lovable peculiarity that percolates through the film from heartfelt but loopy start to winningly upbeat but weird finish.”

The first film, the latest in a long line of animated and live action homages to the characters made famous by Charles Addams’ New Yorker cartoons which Wikipedia note showed “a satirical inversion of the ideal 20th-century American family: an odd wealthy aristocratic clan who delight in the macabre and are seemingly unaware or unconcerned that other people find them bizarre or frightening.”

They are honestly so refreshing to watch because they are unapologetically themselves, a welcome salve for those of us who don’t fit the mold and who have been wounded by society in the process.

Having them back on the big screen will be a joy!

The Addams Family 2 opens 1 October in USA, 8 October in UK and 2 December in Australia.
