Now this, THIS is how you celebrate the 20th anniversary of Friends first going to air!

Allison Hoover, a “Miami Ad School art student and Friends superfan”, recently profiled on Mashable by Andrea Romano, decided to honour the show she loves with not one but a multitude of evocatively-colourful, beautifully rendered minimalist posters that each take as their inspiration a catchphrase or recurring idea from the iconic sitcom that ran from 1994 to 2004.

“Many of the quotes/moments would be recognizable to Friends fans just as sound bites, so I thought a minimalistic design would let people figure it out for themselves.”

This cavalcade of Friends art was only meant to be one poster for one school assignment but a Hoover happily admitted to Mashable:

“I overdid the homework assignment a little bit that week and I’m not even sorry.”

It’s wonderful that this clearly talented artist went gloriously and impressively overboard because it’s given us another reason to be glad, as if we needed one, that we have Friends like Monica and Chandler, Ross and Rachel, Joey and Phoebe.

You can check out more of Allison Hoover’s gorgeous work at her website, and purchase her prints here.
