SNAPSHOT
Aspiring music journalist Jenny (Gina Rodriguez) has just landed her dream job at an iconic magazine and is about to move to San Francisco. Rather than do long distance, her boyfriend of nine years (Lakeith Stanfield) decides to call it quits. To nurse her broken heart, Jenny gathers up her two best friends, Erin (DeWanda Wise) and Blair (Brittany Snow), for one outrageous last adventure in New York City. From writer/director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (creator of MTV’s Sweet/Vicious), Someone Great is a hilarious and heartfelt story of friendship, love, and what it means to let go of your twenties and enter adulthood. I need me a good laugh/cry sometimes and if if features the wonderful Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) then all the better, thank you.

It looks like my wish has been granted, and then some, with upcoming Netflix release Someone Great where moving on in life, in time-honoured fashion, is a sobering mix of happy and sad, exciting and melancholic.

Granted we only have a trailer to go on here, but damn if it isn’t the funniest and most heartfelt piece of promo material I’ve watched in some time – I love the characters, the delicious level of comic timing, the charming goofiness of it all, the realness of things changing as they always must, the snappy dialogue … honestly there is nothing I don’t like.

This one is already in the diary for the release date, 29 April.
